Container Freight Station (CFS) - Kolkata crossed a significant milestone on 23rd June 2024 when the first container rake embarked on its journey from the Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) to its premises. This historic event marked the launch of the ‘Port Link Express’, a new service that commenced its maiden journey with 80 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) of import containers belonging to SITC Line from Haldia port to CFS - Kolkata. The ‘Port Link Express’ is a pioneering cost-effective and eco-friendly land bridge initiative that will enhance trade logistics in the Eastern Region. This groundbreaking initiative aims to establish a robust land bridge between the Haldia terminal and CFS Kolkata, leveraging the superior draft at Haldia to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of container transport between these two critical points.
