In 1934 at Sewree in Mumbai & in 1937 in Kolkata, two Grease manufacturing units were set up for BALMEROL brand of lubricants. Today Balmer Lawrie enjoys the Pride of being one of the ten largest grease manufacturer in Asia & largest grease producer in India.

Ever since SBU’s first unit in 1934 in Sewree to manufacture BALMEROL brand of Greases & Lubricants, today with about 2.3% market share, we are spread east-West & North-South and have installed manufacturing units in Kolkata in West Bengal, Taloja & Sewree in Mumbai, Silvassa in Gujarat and Chennai in Tamil Nadu to produce 72000 mt/kl per annum of BALMEROL brand of lubricants. To cater to the requirements of Industrial & Retail customers, Balmer Lawrie has made its presence with four Regional & Ssix District marketing offices and is continuing to spread its channel networking through opening up of C&F Agents, appointmenting distributors & dealers.

SBU : Greases & Lubricants have achieved milestones in field trials of new generation traction gear compound & suspension bearing oil with Indian Railways, Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluid and establishes several products like Race 4T as per JASO MA2 specification, Gold Premium CI4 15W 40 engine oil, expander oil, new generation sulphonate complex & synthetic lithium complex greases etc. SBU: Greases & Lubricants has also overshoot its budgeted profit to Rs.7.16 crores in 2008-09 and achieved turnover growth of 7.25% over last year in spite of drop in volume by 8.5%.
